Red-rock switchbacks climbing 2,000 ft from Oak Creek to the Mogollon Rim at I-17. Rocky, rutted, heavily trafficked by rental Jeeps on weekends; ride it early on a weekday. Gate at the top closes in winter snow. Links to the Rim Road (FR 300) for a full-day loop east toward Payson.
