Sixty-one miles of dirt off SR 389 (Sunshine Route, County Rd 109) to the rawest Grand Canyon viewpoint there is. A 3,000-ft sheer drop to the river. Washboard and sharp rocks, with the last three miles rocky and slow. Impassable when wet. Day visits now need a $2 reservation on Recreation.gov (20 vehicles/day); camping at Tuweep needs an advance NPS backcountry permit and can't be issued on site. No fuel past Fredonia.
